Our Mission
Our Mission Statement: DMI Home Center will strive to help its customers find what they are seeking for their home. We will do more than just sell materials and direct you to the exit. We will be helpful. We will give knowledgeable advice whenever requested. We will provide only quality materials at a competitive price. Any installations that we arrange for our customers will always be with knowledgeable, reputable, adult installers that are well known to us. They will have proven their craftsmanship abilities many times without fail before we recommend them to a customer's home. We will get to know most of our customers. We will be interested in our customers' projects. Our customers will feel it. We will see most of our customers and their friends over and over again. We will satisfy our customers. Our customers will say great things about us.
Our Story: Our store was established in 1997 when a builder (David Grimes) and his customer (Tracy Grilliot) were looking for some nice cultured marble. They found it and ended up buying the business. Being good, honest people, the only thing right from the beginning was a belief that consistently good service, competitive prices, and only quality materials from one place would appeal to our customers. It did and continues to this day. At first the store didn't do so well, but not for lack of trying. Times were tough on the corner of Oglethorpe and Washington Street. We have Albany Tomorrow to thank for booting us out of downtown and not caring where we went. We went to Ledo Road. A minute from Walmart. Thank you, Mr. Tommy. There was so much to learn about the products, about being competitive, about customer service and how to run a business. It has taken a good bit of time, but we have stuck to our intuitions and have gravitated to only the best... the #1's: Kraftmaid Cabinetry... #1. Progress Lighting... #1. Shaw Carpet... #1. And we've found a few that aren't #1 yet, but they deserve to be because of their great value and quality: Danze faucets, Huntington Brass faucets, Monte Carlo fans, International Bath, etc. These are great products at a wonderful price. They are trying to be #1's. Getting those customers to find us has always been the hard thing. We still hear "I didn't know you were here" and "You need to advertise more" and "I wish I had found you sooner" all the time. We have always noticed that the great majority of people that find us do become our customer. Even the ones that check prices all over town almost always come back to us. We love to beat the competition. We really do. Tracy left a few years ago when her husband was transferred. We still keep in touch. People will forever remember and ask about her. Tina Grimes (my sometimes better half) stepped in very admirably and luckily had and has both a great sense of interior design and a memory like a bear trap. David left Cooper Tire after 22 years and persuaded the other original half of the Planning and Scheduling department (Jerry Pope) to let go of the teat and jump off into the world of self-made men. We began to piece together DMI Remodeling slowly so as to get it right the first time. High standards. Honesty. Customer satisfaction. Exceed expectations. An opportunity to live up to and enforce the buzzwords we grew up with. David and Jerry have the skills and knowledge to do most anything they want to do well. A perfect fit, because we do lots of stuff and it ALL has to be done well every single time. We have to live up to our benchmarks, because there's nobody to blame but us if we don't, so we do. And we will continue to do so. God Bless America.
